Shabby Chic Christmas Decor

It's officially the most wonderful time of the year!  I'm so excited to be decorating for Christmas.  There's just something about this time of year that makes me extremely happy.  Everything seems more cozy and everyone seems more cheerful.  I love coming home from work and cozying up on the couch with the Christmas tree lit and a fire going.

I've started collecting Christmas decor and creating a theme.  I think the little red trucks that seem to be everywhere this year are so adorable.  I have an ornament, a door hanger, and a few other pieces that match that theme.  To go along with the fun truck elements, I have collected ornaments with red, gold, burlap, and twine to carry the theme throughout the tree.  The tree topper was a little DIY project, so if you're interested in a tutorial on how I made it, let me know.  Since I'm decorating a pretty small tree for now, this topper works perfectly.  Once I purchase a full size Christmas tree I'll probably buy a larger tree topper.

I've been purchasing ornaments from various stores since last year.  Surprisingly enough, most of these ornaments came from Walmart!  I purchased a lot of them after Christmas last year so I literally got them for around .50 cents each.  They're by a brand called Holiday Time which I discovered is a women owned company, pretty cool huh?

Most of the other ornaments came from Hobby Lobby's Berries and Burlap collection, again, I purchased them after Christmas last year.  They were around $1-2 each on sale which is a great deal!  The tree skirt was also purchased from Hobby Lobby on sale last year, and they still have the exact same one online.  They always have a ton of adorable shabby chic ornaments to choose from, so you can make it your own with the same sort of feel.  The cute red truck ornament and a couple other ornaments were purchased from Kirkland's just a couple of weeks ago, so you should be able to find those exact ornaments.

The red truck door hanger was a purchase from a local craft fair in Glendale, Kentucky called Glendale Days.  My friend Paige and I go just about every year and they have the cutest stuff for the holidays!

Along with all of the pretty shabby chic ornaments, I have included some more personal ones as well.  These are from various trips I've taken, gifts I have received, some I made and some are just ones I have purchased randomly.  The blue Kentucky state ornament was a handmade purchase from Glendale Days as well.  There are various wood slice ornaments on the tree as well that my mom and I made last year.  I plan to post a tutorial on how to make these sometime this season.  It's okay if some of your ornaments don't match your theme perfectly.  It's those random ones that give your Christmas tree personality.

If you're like me and don't have a place of your own just yet, I suggest stocking up on this type of stuff during the after Christmas sales.  You can get everything you need for half the price.  Since you don't necessarily need to decorate with it yet, you don't have to be in a huge hurry to get it.

I'm so excited to finish up with decorating and enjoy it!  I'm one of those people who loves to decorate early.  I figure I might as well go ahead and give myself even more time to enjoy my favorite time of year.
